National Professional Qualification for Middle Leaders (NPQML)

NPQML is for individuals who are, or are aspiring to become, a middle leader with responsibility for leading a team e.g. a key stage leader, a subject leader, or a head of department.

What does the qualification offer?

  • Access to outstanding leadership development training.

  • National qualification designed by school leaders for school leaders.

  • A flexible, modular structure that combines core modules with the freedom to specialise and to develop candidate’s own professional areas.

How will the programme be delivered?

  • Each module consists of workplace learning and practice activities, face-to-face workshops and online learning

  • The programme will run over a period over a period of 12 months, beginning in September 2018

  • Delivery of face-to-face sessions will be in Bury schools and facilitated by a Primary and Secondary senior leader

  • Through a purpose built virtual learning environment enabled for mobiles and tablets

Delivery Model:

  • Three face-to-face training sessions spread over 12 months

  • Four facilitated online short courses

  • Two 360 degree Leadership Diagnostic Reports

  • One assessed task on a school improvement priority

  • Support from a nominated in-school mentor

How Do I Apply?

  • Obtain permission from your Head Teacher
  • Send details of name, address, school and qualification applied for to BTSA@bury.gov.uk by Friday 7th September 2018 before you apply online
  • Complete online application at www.outstandingleaders.org by 16th September 2018
  • Delivery partner Bury TSA (code BRY-TSA)
  • Schools will be invoiced by BTSA (price on application).
